GEEK - Geology and Geological Engineering Exploration Kamp

Discover the world beneath your feet

GEEK camp logo

Learn the basics of Earth science: Rocks and minerals, layers of the Earth, how water moves, how landscapes form, and how to read rock layers.

Solve real engineering problems: Design stable slopes, examine where groundwater goes, analyze soil strength, and investigate earthquake hazards.

Conduct real field and lab work: Make maps, collect samples, use simple instruments, and turn observations into clear conclusions.

Connect with geologists and engineers who use these skills every day: ask questions, see cool gear, and learn what their jobs are like.

Build your path forward with mentors and new friends, plus gain advice on classes, college majors, and career in geoscience and geological engineering.

When: July 12-17, 2026

Who: Rising high-school juniors and seniors

Where: University of Mississippi

Cost: $50 application fee due before start of the program. Scholarships available in event of financial need.  Lodging and meals provided on Ole Miss campus.
