Taft's Trip to Mississippi
On 1 November 1909, the “Citizens of Jackson, Mississippi” sponsored a banquet in honor of Taft’s visit to the Magnolia State. The menu in the event’s program paid suitable tribute to a president known for his gustatory pleasures.
Not an advocate of female voting rights, Taft nevertheless politely thanked the Woman Suffrage Club of Jackson for their floral bouquet the day after the banquet.
