TRANSFER UNDERGRADUATE APPLICATION

International Transfer Application Checklist

Are you transferring to UM from a college or university outside of the United States?
Refer to the checklist below.

You have two options to apply for admissions, the UM application or Common App.

Online UM Application   Common App

The application fee is payable upon completion of the application online

Unfortunately, UM's policy does not allow application fees to be waived for international students.

Since the student visa process requires students to demonstrate the capability of paying for all education, living, and travel costs for attending university in the U.S., the application fee cannot be waived on the basis of financial hardship for any international applicant who requires a student visa to enter or remain in the U.S.

Transcripts can be submitted by email to study@olemiss.edu. We consider transcripts official when they are sent directly from a high school counselor or school official or through Common App.

Credit Hours

If you have completed fewer than 30 credit hours of university-level coursework, you will need to meet the freshman admission requirements and provide both high school and in-progress university transcripts.

If you have completed over 30 credit hours of university-level coursework, please send your in-progress university transcript showing over 30 credit hours.

GPA - Grade Point Average

Transfer students must have completed over 30 hours with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 on the U.S. scale.

English proficiency can be demonstrated many ways. Please see our current list of accepted tests, waivers, and scores.

  • English Proficiency Requirements

The ability to communicate effectively in the English language is critically important to students’ academic and personal success as well as to safety in laboratories and other academic and research environments. International applicants whose primary language is not English and/or who have completed their secondary or tertiary education primarily outside of the U.S. must submit official scores from the acceptable tests in the table below. English language proficiency requirements may be met by providing qualifying test scores. To be considered official, test scores must be sent directly from the testing agency to the university and be less than two years old. The school code for the University of Mississippi is 1840.
