Social connections and a sense of belonging are essential for a productive and happy work environment

One way the University supports increased employee engagement is through Employee Resource Groups (ERGs).

ERGs are employee-led groups based on shared identities or roles. They help build support networks, offer personal and professional growth opportunities, and foster a sense of community. ERGs are a great way to welcome new employees and provide networking and mentoring.

ERGs are supported through a collaboration between the Division of Diversity and Community Engagement and Human Resources. If you have any questions, or if you’d like to start an ERG, please contact Roger Davis (rdavis7@olemiss.edu) or Lynn Wilkins (lwilkins@olemiss.edu).

Black Faculty and Staff Organization (BFSO)

Established in 1982, the BFSO addresses issues and concerns unique to, and contributes to a climate that is conducive to the well-being and professional development of, the University’s Black faculty and staff. Please contact bfso@olemiss.edu for more information.

Caregiver Resource Network

Many employees care for a loved one who is elderly, ill or living with a disability. Caregiving can be both a rewarding experience and a stressful, isolating one. The Caregiver Resource Network (CRN) helps caregiving employees connect with others who understand the experience and area resources that can help. Disabled/Chronically Ill Employee Resource Group

The D/CI ERG creates spaces for employees who identify as having visible or invisible disabilities and/or chronic mental or physical health conditions. The group creates community for members to share challenges, celebrate accomplishments and make meaningful connections to others on campus. Envisioning a campus where disabled, chronically ill, and neurodivergent individuals are fully included and welcomed in our campus culture and communities, the group identifies barriers and proposes solutions to institutional policies, norms, practices and built environments that prevent equitable access to successful employment. Food for the Soul

Join us each month for a healthy meal, engaging discussions and inspiring talks on topics like work-life balance and the importance of social connections. This event, sponsored by Red, Blue and Well, takes place on the third Wednesday of every month in the Old Athletics Building. Drop by anytime between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to enjoy a free meal. Grief Support Group for UM Employees

If you’re dealing with loss, the Grief Support Group offers a safe space to share your feelings and find support. Led by a licensed counselor, this group meets twice a month to help you navigate the grieving process and connect with others who understand. Confidentiality is a top priority. Hispanic Faculty and Staff Organization

Through advocacy, support and education, the Hispanic Faculty and Staff Organization (HFSO) works to unify, develop, and strengthen our campus community. Our goal is to establish safe spaces for University of Mississippi faculty and staff who are connected to the Latino, Hispanic and Latinx communities. Parent Resource Network (PRN)

PRN works to support employees with parenting responsibilities by creating a space to build relationships and share knowledge about child-friendly events, community resources and helpful advice. The group will support employees with a variety of parenting responsibilities; all are welcome. Wellness Champions

Want to spread the word about wellness at the University? Consider becoming a Wellness Champion! You'll get updates on wellness programs, share information with your department and help boost wellness activities on campus. Women of Color Network (WOCN)

WOCN creates engaging opportunities for networking, professional development, mentorship, and community engagement with a specific focus on resources, empowerment and community support. Young Professionals Network (off-campus)

Young Professionals of Oxford (YPO) is a networking organization of active, ambitious young professionals in the Oxford/Lafayette County area, including faculty and staff at the University. YPO is a place for next generation leaders and change agents to share their big ideas, test their hunches and participate in dynamic conversations with a group of professionals who are passionate about building better places to live and work. Develop business relationships, share valuable information and establish lifelong friendships.
