Frequently Asked Questions: Password Reset/Unlock


We've recently updated our password management system to Fischer Identity Management. You can now manage your password and recovery methods directly through the Fischer portal.


I've forgotten my password. How can I reset it?

Please follow the instructions below based on your account type to reset your password using our self-service portal.

For Students & Employees

  1. Navigate to the Password Reset Portal.
  2. On the "Welcome" pop-up, select Next.
  3. Select Students & Employees as your identity type.
  4. Enter your Legal First Name, Legal Last Name, and Date of Birth, then select Submit.
  5. Select a verification method from the options presented (e.g., external email, cell phone, recovery email/mobile).
  6. A PIN will be sent to your selected method. Enter the PIN on the screen and select Verify.
  7. Follow the final prompts to create your new password.

For Parents

  1. Navigate to the Password Reset Portal.
  2. On the "Welcome" pop-up, select Next.
  3. Select Parents as your identity type.
  4. Enter your Legal First Name, Legal Last Name, your Student’s WebID, and your Student’s Birth Date, then select Submit.
  5. Select a verification method from the options presented.
  6. A PIN will be sent to your selected method. Enter the PIN on the screen and select Verify.
  7. Follow the final prompts to create your new password.

To change your password:

  1. Go to my.olemiss.edu and select the Password Help link.
  2. Choose Change My Password.
  3. Authenticate with your WebID and your new password.
  4. After reviewing the IT Appropriate Use Policy, agree to the terms and select Complete.
  5. On the password management page, select My Passwords.
  6. Enter a new password and confirm, then select Reset Password.

To set up or change recovery information:

  1. Log in to the Fischer Portal Dashboard at https://id.olemiss.edu/portal/dashboard .
  2. Select the down arrow in the top-right corner of the Home screen and select My Profile.
  3. Enter your new Recovery Email and/or Recovery Mobile.
  4. Your recovery email must be an external email account.
  5. Your mobile number must be a U.S. number and entered as a 10-digit number without a leading '1'.
  6. Select Submit and then enter the validation PIN sent to your recovery method.
